We love the Braun ThermoScan 7+ Ear Thermometer, which is an innovative device with Age Precision technology to monitor fever in line with age. It includes a colour-coded display to help you interpret results more easily and a pre-warmed tip for comfort and reliability. The Braun Thermoscan Thermometer can be used in conjunction with Braun Hygiene caps, which are disposable and should be thrown away after every use to avoid cross-contamination.
The Medicare Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer is fast and accurate and conveniently monitors temperatures, including room and surface temperature. This excellent thermometer offers 1-second measurement without requiring skin contact so you can take a temperature from 3-5cm away, which is ideal for small children and challenging patients. The device beeps to let you know that measurement is complete, and features an auto switch-off and silent mode so that you can adjust it to suit your preferences.
Fevers can be worrying, especially in children and babies, but they are an essential bodily response to fight off illness. It is usually advised to take paracetamol or ibuprofen regularly if the fever is accompanied by pain or is disruptive to sleep, but the best way to assist your body in healing is to drink plenty of water, use rehydration sachets and sponge the skin with lukewarm water if needed. If you or your patient also have a severe headache, shortness of breath or a stiff neck, you should contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
